Dr. Akshay Tiwari is a renowned Orthopedic Surgeon specializing in Musculoskeletal Oncology.
He is a trained orthopedic oncologist with over 24 years of overall experience.
Dr. Tiwari specializes in soft tissue sarcomas, benign aggressive bone tumors, primary malignant bone tumors, and metastatic bone disease.
He has conducted over 2000 surgeries focused on bone and soft tissue tumors.
His expertise includes reconstructive orthopedic surgery, spinal tumor surgery, limb-saving surgery, and computer navigation for precise tumor removal.
Dr. Tiwari's area of interest is complex surgeries, such as total femur replacement, internal hemipelvectomy, extracorporeal radiotherapy, and en-bloc resection of spine sarcomas.
He began his educational journey with an MBBS from RG Kar Medical College, Kolkata, in 2000, followed by an MS in Orthopedics from the Lady Hardinge Medical College, Delhi, in 2004.
He later specialized in managing bone cancers by pursuing a Fellowship in Orthopedic Oncology at Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai.
He also holds a Diploma in Tissue Banking from Singapore and a Fellowship in Musculoskeletal Oncology from Rizzoli Orthopedic Institute, Italy.
He pioneered the first exclusive Musculoskeletal/Orthopedic oncology unit in Delhi-NCR. He introduced the first Stryker Nav 3 Navigation system for orthopedic oncology in India at Max Institute of Cancer Care, Saket.
Dr. Tiwari has published extensively and presented at national and international forums on musculoskeletal oncology.
He advocates evidence-based treatment combined with patient-centric innovations and actively mentors fellows in orthopedic oncology.
He leads a multidisciplinary "Musculoskeletal Oncology Disease Management Group" for comprehensive cancer care.
Dr. Tiwari has won several awards during his academic studies and for his contribution to the field of orthopedics.
He is a member of the Indian Orthopedic Association, the Delhi Orthopedic Association, and the Musculoskeletal Oncology Society.
