  • He is the first laparoscopic surgeon in India to be accredited and certified by the National Board of Examination, which is under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, New Delhi.
  • His expertise includes metabolic and bariatric surgery, minimal access surgery, gallbladder surgery, hernia surgery, gastroesophageal surgery, and revision surgery.
  • Dr. Vashistha completed his MBBS and MS in General Surgery from the University of Rajasthan in 1993 and 1977, respectively.
  • Later, he pursued a Fellowship in Minimal Access Surgery (FMAS), a Fellowship from the Indian Association of Gastrointestinal Endosurgeons (FIAGES), and a Fellowship in Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery (FALS).
  • In 2005, Dr. Vashistha gained advanced expertise in bariatric (obesity) surgery from Professor Jean-Marc Chevallier at Hospital European Georges Pompidou, Paris.

  • The same year, he undertook specialized training in adjustable gastric banding with Professor Dr. Gerhard Schwab in Krems, Austria.
  • He received further training in adjustable gastric banding and laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass with Professor Dr. R. Margreiter, Dr. H. Weiss, Dr. F. Aigner, and Dr. A. Klaus at University Hospital Innsbruck, Austria.
