• Dr. Ashish Vashistha is a highly regarded Bariatric and Advanced Laparoscopic surgeon in India with over 31 years of expertise in Minimal Access Surgery.
• He is the first laparoscopic surgeon in India to be accredited and certified by the National Board of Examination, which is under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, New Delhi.
• His expertise includes metabolic and bariatric surgery, minimal access surgery, gallbladder surgery, hernia surgery, gastroesophageal surgery, and revision surgery.
• Dr. Vashistha completed his MBBS and MS in General Surgery from the University of Rajasthan in 1993 and 1977, respectively.
• Later, he pursued a Fellowship in Minimal Access Surgery (FMAS), a Fellowship from the Indian Association of Gastrointestinal Endosurgeons (FIAGES), and a Fellowship in Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery (FALS).
• In 2005, Dr. Vashistha gained advanced expertise in bariatric (obesity) surgery from Professor Jean-Marc Chevallier at Hospital European Georges Pompidou, Paris.
• Later, he acquired advanced bariatric (obesity) surgery training with Dr. Raul J. Rosenthal, Director of the Bariatric Institute at Cleveland Clinic, Weston, Florida, USA.
• In March 2007, the doctor completed advanced bariatric surgery training in laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass under the guidance of Professor Dr. Stephen Kriwanek in Vienna, Austria.
• The same year, he undertook specialized training in adjustable gastric banding with Professor Dr. Gerhard Schwab in Krems, Austria.
• He received further training in adjustable gastric banding and laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass with Professor Dr. R. Margreiter, Dr. H. Weiss, Dr. F. Aigner, and Dr. A. Klaus at University Hospital Innsbruck, Austria.
• Dr. Vashistha is an active member of several esteemed medical organizations in India and Asia, including the Asia Metabolic Society, the Endoscopic Laparoscopic Surgeons of Asia, and the Asia Pacific Hernia Society.
