• He has more than 52 years of experience in this field.
• His expertise lies in the management of various gastrointestinal disorders, including peptic ulcer disease, end-stage liver disease, cirrhosis, acidity, viral hepatitis, and many more.
• He is also well-versed in advanced surgical techniques and procedures, including upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopic procedures, endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), endoscopic ultrasound, liver biopsy, and colonoscopy. 
• Dr. Balachandar completed his MBBS in 1972 and MS in General Surgery from Government Medical College, Jabalpur.
• After this, he completed his MCh in Gastroenterology from Madras Medical College, Chennai, in 1995.
• He also received fellowship MRCS and FRCS in Austria and UK, respectively.
