  • He received his medical training in the UK, where he worked with the renowned urologist John Wickham as an associate lecturer and collaborator on the well-known Guy's Hospital Robotics Project at Imperial College of Science & Technology London. 
  • The results of this, the first attempt to build a robot capable of performing a prostate operation, were given at the 1996 Edinburgh meeting of the British Association of Urologists.
  • He and Prof. Andreas Gross of Hamburg, Germany, introduced laser surgery to Eastern India in 2007.
  • He received the Anungo Mohan Gold Medal from the West Bengal branch of the Association of Surgeons of India for earning the highest grade in MS General Surgery at Medical College, Calcutta.
