  • After completing his MBBS from the University of Rajasthan in 1978, he also achieved an MD (Medicine) from the University of Rajasthan in 1982.
  • He did a fellowship in critical care from Mount Sinai Medical School, New York, USA.
  • He was also Head and professor of the Department of Pulmonary Medicine and Sleep Disorders at AIIMS New Delhi.
  • He is the chairman of the credential committee of the Indian Society of Critical Care & Medicine and a member of the governing body of the Indian Chest Society.
  • He was vice president of the National College of Chest physician (2007-2009), president (for two terms) of the National College of Chest physician (2011-2013), chairman of the credential committee of the Indian Society of Critical Care Med. (2011-13), member of the council of regents for seven years of the American college of chest physician, Member Executive council of Indian society of critical care medicine (2008-10), and member governing body of Indian chest society (2015-17).
  • He is also the senior editor of Critical Care: Lung India & and a member of many editorial boards like the Journal of Critical Care Medicine, Indian Journals of Chest Disease, and Allied Sciences Indian.
