About Dr. Kodaganur S. Gopinath

Padma Shri recipient Dr. Gopinath K.S. is a distinguished Surgical Oncologist with over 49 years of experience in the field.
His expertise lies in performing surgical procedures for cervical cancer, head and neck cancer, and breast cancer.
His research focuses on comparing laparoscopic and open surgical techniques, treating rectal cancer, and studying the effects of yoga on cancer treatment.
He has established a reputation for his proficiency in traditional and minimally invasive surgical techniques.
Dr. Gopinath completed his MBBS from Jagadguru Jayadeva Murugarajendra Medical College (JJMMC), Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Davangere, in 1975.
He then pursued his MS in General Surgery at the King Edward Memorial Hospital and Seth Gordhandas Sunderdas Medical College in 1979.
He earned the Fellowship of the Royal Colleges of Surgeons (FRCS) and also holds the Fellowship of the Academy of Medicine (FAMS).
Dr. Gopinath has received numerous awards for his contributions to surgical oncology, including the Padma Shri Award and the Dr. B.C. Roy Award for Eminent Medical Person in India and the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Indian Association of Surgical Oncology.
Dr. Gopinath is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Indian Association of Surgical Oncologists, the Indian Society of Oncology, and the Surgical Society of Bangalore.
