• After completing his MBBS from Patna Medical College, Patna, in 1989, he also achieved an MD (Medicine) from G B Pant Hospital / Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi, 1994 and a DNB (General Medicine) from National Board Of Examination, 1996.
• He further achieved the International Fellowship of the American College of Rheumatology, USA, 2002; a Fellowship of the Royal College of Physician (FRCP), Glasgow, UK, 2004; and a Fellowship of Royal College of Physician (FRCP), Edinburgh, UK, 2009.
• Dr. Gupta was awarded Zydus Oration for contributions to Rheumatology by the Indian Rheumatology Association in 2008.
