About Dr. Randeep Guleria

• Padma Shri recipient Dr. Randeep Guleria is an Internal Medicine Specialist with more than 40 years of experience.
• His expertise lies in interventional pulmonology, critical care, metabolic syndrome, sleep disorders, etc.
• His educational journey started with an MBBS from Indira Gandhi Medical College & Hospital (IGMC), Shimla.
• He further achieved an MD in Medicine and DM in Pulmonary Medicine, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine from the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh.
• He also earned a Clinical Research Fellow from the Royal Brompton Hospital, London.
• Dr. Guleria was the Personal Physician to the Prime Minister of India, Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee, from 1998 to 2004 and has since continued to be his Personal Physician.
• He has received many prestigious awards, such as the Swastha Bharat Samman for Medicine from LIC and Zee TV, the Himachal Gaurav Puraskar, and the 22nd Lal Bahadur Shastri National Award for Excellence in 2021.
• Dr. Guleria was awarded the prestigious Dr. B. C. Roy National Award for Eminent Medical Person for the year 2014 and the Lung India Award for the best original article in Lung India by the Indian Chest Society in 2014.
• IIT Kharagpur and Amity University awarded him a Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) Honoris Causa.
• Dr. Guleria is also an advisor and consultant to various international and national bodies, including the WHO (Geneva) and the IAEA (Vienna).
• He has been invited as an expert in several National and International forums, including the Center for Disease Control (CDC), USA.
• The Government of Germany, WHO, and IAEA have invited him to attend their 2012 International Conference on Radiation Protection in Medicine.
• He has pioneered work on respiratory muscle functions, lung cancer, asthma, and COPD.
• Dr. Guleria has more than 400 publications in international and national journals and 49 chapters in various national and international books.
• He has delivered more than 300 lectures at International and National conferences.
• The American College of Chest Physicians has invited him to attend its Annual International Conference in Chicago in 2014 as a faculty member.
• Dr. Guleria has been invited by the National Associations in Sri Lanka and Nepal to deliver talks at their conferences.
• He has given many talks and participated in programs for AIR, Doordarshan, Lok Sabha TV, Zee TV, NDTV, Star News, India TV, and Aaj Tak.
• He has also participated in interactive TV shows for youth regarding the problems of smoking and how to quit smoking.
