  • Dr. Ranjan Kumar Sharma began his medical journey with an MBBS from Burdwan Medical College in 1983. He then pursued an MD in General Medicine from the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh, in 1987.
  • He continued with a Diploma in Cardiology from the Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education & Research (IPGMER, SSKM Hospital), Kolkata, in 1989.
  • To gain further specialization, he did DNB and DM in Cardiology from the Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education & Research (IPGMER, SSKM Hospital), Kolkata, in 1990 and 1994, respectively.
  • He also served as a Senior Research Fellow at ICMR, Delhi, in 1987.
  • During his tenure in the medical profession, he also contributed and hence became the founding member of the Society of Cardiac Intervention.
  • Besides, he is a member of multiple associations in India, such as IACTS, IMA, and API.
  • He is an active researcher with a number of national and international publications. He has also presented papers at International Conferences such as EURO-PCR (Parsi) and IRF (Vienna).
  • Dr. Sharma was among the first Indians to research the Delta Virus at PGIMER, Chandigarh, in 1986.
