About Dr. T.S. KLER

  • Padma Bhushan recipient Dr. T. S. Kler is a leading Interventional Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist with over 48 years of experience.
  • He has performed more than 35,000 coronary, renal, carotid, and peripheral angioplasties. He is a pioneer in electrophysiology and established the first electrophysiology department in India at a leading hospital in Delhi.
  • He was the first doctor in India to implant ICD, CRT-P, and CRT-D devices and the first Indian cardiologist to perform HIS Bundle Pacing in 2015.
  • Dr. Kler initiated RF ablation and Cardiac Device Implantation Programs in India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan.
  • His educational journey started with an MBBS from Government Medical College and Hospital, Patiala, in 1976.
  • He further achieved an MD in Internal Medicine and a DM in Cardiology from the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, in 1980 and 1983, respectively.
  • Dr. Kler earned a Fellowship in Electrophysiology and Pacing from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 1993, a Fellowship from the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP), Edinburg, UK, and a Fellowship from the American College of Cardiology (FACC), USA, 2003.
  • Dr. Kler has trained over 300 doctors in interventional cardiology and electrophysiology.
  • He is a scientific advisor to various multinational companies in the USA and has authored about 150 articles in national and international journals.
  • Dr. Kler regularly speaks at national and international conferences such as HRS and ACC. He has been invited to be a Guest Faculty member in the USA, France, Australia, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Singapore, and Pakistan.
  • Dr. Kler was awarded the Padma Bhushan by the Government of India in 2005.
  • He received the D.Sc (Honoris Causa) from Punjab University, the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Indian Medical Association, the Times Healthcare Achievers Awards: Legend of Medicine, and the Delhi Medical Association Centenary Award.
  • Dr. Kler is an active member of the Heart Rhythm Society of India, the Cardiological Society of India, the American Society of Pacing and Electrophysiology, the Indian College of Cardiology, and the American College of Cardiology.
