Dr. Vivek Bindal is a renowned Obesity and Bariatric Surgeon with over 20 years of experience.
He is recognized in the media for challenging surgical cases, including the world's youngest child bariatric surgery and the first robotic excision of a retroperitoneal Schwannoma tumor.
He performed the first bariatric surgical procedure in the state of Himachal Pradesh, which was transmitted live at Indira Gandhi Medical College, Shimla, and witnessed by the state's Chief Minister on November 30, 2019.
Dr. Bindal has been involved in advanced research in the field of robotic bariatric surgery and abdominal wall reconstruction, including clinical outcomes and technology development.
His educational journey started with an MBBS and MS (General Surgery) from Maulana Azad Medical College in 2004 and 2009.
He further achieved a DNB (General Surgery) from the National Board of Examination in 2010 and an FNB (Minimal Access Surgery) from Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in 2012.
He received Fellowship in Robotic GI and Bariatric Surgery from University Illinois of Chicago, 2013, a Fellowship in Robotic & Bariatric Surgery from Duke University Medical Centre, 2014, and a Fellowship of American College of Surgeons (FACS), 2015.
Dr. Bindal established the Institute of Minimal Access, Bariatric & Robotic Surgery at Max Healthcare locations (Vaishali, Patparganj, Noida) in April 2021.
In 2019, he started the Indian Chapter of the Clinical Robotic Surgery Association (USA), the organization's first International chapter, which now has more than 200 members.
He has authored more than 50 papers in international journals and over 30 book chapters.
He is a keynote speaker at international and national conferences on Robotic, Bariatric, Hernia, Abdominal Wall Reconstruction, gallbladder, and advanced laparoscopic surgery.
Dr. Bindal has also developed a training curriculum in robotic surgery for surgeons and residents.
He is a trainer of over 250 surgeons in India and internationally.
He initiated robotic surgery programs at hospitals, including CMC Vellore, PSG Medical College Coimbatore, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, Max Dehradun, and Max Mohali.
He is an active member of the American College of Surgeons (ACS), Obesity Surgery Society of India (OSSI), Clinical Robotic Surgery Association (CRSA), European Association for Endoscopic Surgery (EAES), Society of American Gastrointestinal & Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES), and many more.
