Dr. Z Shakir Tabrez is a urologist with 23 years of experience.
He specializes in pediatric urology and uro-oncology, conducting 3D laparoscopic and robotic surgeries, advanced upper tract endoscopic surgeries, and kidney transplants.
He has performed over 200 buccal mucosal urethroplasty procedures and over 1,000 laser transurethral resection of the prostate surgeries for treating the prostate gland.
Further, he has hands-on experience performing over 2,000 surgeries for stone diseases. It involved laser fragmentation of renal and ureteric calculi through procedures such as percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL), ureteroscopy (URS), and retrograde intrarenal surgery (RIRS).
Dr. Z Shakir Tabrez is proficient in conducting open and minimally invasive procedures and andrological procedures, such as the insertion of a penile prosthesis.
Additionally, his expertise lies in dealing with oncological cases like renal synovial sarcoma, infection cases like tuberculous orchitis, and other related procedures.
Dr. Z Shakir Tabrez obtained an MBBS from Annamalai University in 2001. He then pursued an MS in General Surgery from Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research in 2004.
In 2008, he completed an MCh in Urology from Sri Ramachandra University, Chennai. To strengthen his knowledge, he also became a Fellow of the International College of Surgeons (FICS).
Later, he continued with a Diploma in Minimal Access Surgery in urology and robotic surgery. To further enhance his skills, he learned from training in laparoscopic surgery in Strasbourg, France.
He also holds a few publications to his credit, indicating his involvement in research and familiarity with state-of-the-art techniques and procedures.
Dr. Tabrez is an active member of the Karnataka Medical Council.
